Game Recap
The Kansas City Royals, behind a pair of home runs from Jac Caglianone, overcame an early two-run deficit to defeat the favored Texas Rangers. A decisive four-run sixth inning propelled Kansas City to the comeback victory, defying pregame expectations.
Texas opened the scoring in the second inning when Burger singled to left, allowing Langford to cross the plate. The Rangers extended their lead to 2-0 in the fourth after Carter scored on a throwing error by Kansas City catcher Jensen. The Royals began to chip away at the deficit in the fifth inning, as Caglianone launched his first solo home run of the game to right center.
The game truly swung in the bottom of the sixth inning. Garcia tied the game with a triple to right field that scored Jensen, and Pasquantino followed with a ground rule double that drove in Garcia, giving the Royals their first lead. Caglianone then delivered the decisive blow, smashing his second home run of the game, a 431-foot shot to right center that also scored Pasquantino and capped the four-run frame. On the mound, Stephen Kolek delivered a strong performance for Kansas City, allowing only one earned run over five innings while striking out three, keeping the Rangers' offense contained.
Ultimately, Kansas City's powerful sixth-inning rally, spearheaded by Caglianone's multi-homer effort, proved insurmountable for the Rangers. The Royals demonstrated a resilient offensive effort to secure the win at home. Kansas City now stands at 52-74, while Texas falls to 61-65.
