Arizona Diamondbacks vs Colorado Rockies — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Arizona Diamondbacks secured a 5-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies, largely thanks to a decisive four-run outburst in the opening frame that put them in command from the start.

The Diamondbacks wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Ketel Marte scored on a single by Lourdes Gurriel Jr., who then came home on an Eugenio Suarez single. Corbin Carroll capped the inning with a two-run triple, staking Arizona to a 4-0 lead. The Rockies began to chip away in the second when Elehuris Montero doubled home Michael Toglia, and again in the third on a sacrifice fly by Ryan McMahon that scored Ezequiel Tovar, bringing the score to 4-2.

Despite the Rockies' efforts, that initial four-run first inning proved insurmountable. While Colorado's starter Mason Adams entered the game in the second inning and delivered a remarkable performance, striking out eight and not allowing an earned run over six subsequent innings, the damage was already done. His strong outing kept the Diamondbacks offense mostly at bay, but the early deficit was too large to erase. Arizona later added an insurance run in the eighth with Jake McCarthy's solo home run, a run that became even more crucial when Tovar answered with a solo shot for Colorado in the bottom of the eighth.

Ultimately, the Diamondbacks' aggressive start and ability to quickly build a substantial lead provided enough cushion to withstand a solid pitching performance from Colorado and seal the win. This victory improves Arizona's record to 84-74, while the Rockies fall to 57-101.
