Atlanta Braves vs Washington Nationals — Recap

Game Recap
The Washington Nationals secured a decisive 11-4 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday, consistently extending an early lead and thwarting Atlanta's attempts to rally. Washington’s offense started strong and continued to apply pressure throughout the contest, never relinquishing control of the scoreboard and fending off repeated challenges from the visiting Braves.
The Nationals wasted no time establishing their dominance, plating three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Young’s single drove in the first run, followed by a bases-loaded walk to Lile and an RBI single from Nuñez. Atlanta responded in the second with an RBI double by Harris II, but Washington immediately countered in the bottom of the frame with a solo home run from Wood. The Braves continued to chip away with solo shots from Baldwin in the third and White in the fifth, narrowing the gap to 4-3, before García Jr. singled home another run for the Nationals in the bottom of the fifth.
While Washington's three-run first inning established the initial advantage, it was their ability to string together multi-run innings later that ultimately swung the outcome. The Nationals effectively put the game out of reach with a three-run burst in the bottom of the seventh. García Jr. delivered a crucial two-run double, and Young followed with an RBI groundout, pushing the lead to 8-3. Nationals starter Foster Griffin delivered a solid outing, allowing just three earned runs over six innings to keep Atlanta’s powerful lineup in check. Curtis Mead then capped Washington's scoring with a three-run blast in the eighth inning, solidifying the commanding victory.
Washington's consistent offensive pressure and timely hitting in key moments proved too much for the Braves' reliance on solo home runs. They repeatedly answered Atlanta's rallies, never allowing the visitors to gain significant momentum and dictating the pace of the game from start to finish. Following the win, the Nationals improve to 61-66, while the Braves fall to 74-51.
