Game Recap
Cleveland erupted for six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to rally past Houston, overcoming a two-run deficit for a come-from-behind victory.
The Guardians opened the scoring early, with Valera singling home a run in the first. Angel Martinez then extended their lead to 2-0 with a solo home run in the second frame. However, the Astros responded in the fifth, as Matthews singled in a run before Alvarez's two-run single put Houston ahead 3-2. An infield single by Correa in the seventh pushed the Astros' advantage to two runs.
The decisive blow came in the bottom of the eighth, as Cleveland's offense exploded. Rocchio's single brought home a run, narrowing the gap to one. DeLauter then cleared the bases with a triple, scoring three runs and giving the Guardians a sudden 6-4 lead. Manzardo capped the scoring with a two-run single, widening the margin and completing the dramatic turnaround.
Despite Alvarez's RBI double in the top of the ninth, Houston could not recover from the Guardians' powerful eighth-inning surge. Cleveland's late-game offensive burst, highlighted by key extra-base hits and timely singles, ultimately secured the victory. The Guardians improved their record to 61-65, while the Astros fell to 63-63.
