In a contest featuring two clubs with near-identical records, it was the Baltimore Orioles who ultimately emerged victorious against the Houston Astros, securing a 4-2 win in extra innings. The Orioles were the first to break the scoreless tie in the top of the fourth inning when Dylan Beavers doubled to right field, bringing Alonso home and advancing Basallo to third, giving Baltimore an early 1-0 lead. That slim advantage held for much of the game, largely thanks to a dominant performance from Orioles pitcher Trevor Rogers, who stifled the Astros lineup through the middle innings.

Rogers was stellar, tossing 6.1 innings and striking out eight batters while allowing only one earned run. However, the Astros finally broke through against him in the bottom of the seventh. Dezenzo scored on a sacrifice bunt hit by Allen, evening the score at 1-1 and sending the game into a tense late-inning battle. With both teams unable to push across another run in regulation, the tightly contested affair headed to extra innings, setting the stage for a dramatic finish.

The deadlock was first broken in the top of the tenth inning when the Orioles once again took the lead. Jackson executed a sacrifice bunt to first base, allowing Taveras to score and moving Encarnacion-Strand to second, putting Baltimore up 2-1. But the Astros quickly responded in the bottom half of the frame, refusing to concede. Alvarez hit a ground rule double, which scored Spence and advanced Allen to third, tying the game once more at 2-2 and pushing the contest into the eleventh inning.

Baltimore finally found enough offense to secure the win in the top of the eleventh. Henderson scored on an infield single to second by O'Neill, giving the Orioles a 3-2 lead, with Ward moving to second. Just moments later, Taveras singled to right, driving in Ward and extending Baltimore's lead to 4-2. The Astros were unable to mount another comeback in the bottom of the eleventh, sealing the victory for the Orioles. Beavers, whose RBI double kicked off the scoring, finished the game as the top hitter for Baltimore with two hits and an RBI.
