The Rockies wasted no time establishing their lead, with Carrigg's double driving in McCarthy in the bottom of the first, followed by TJ Rumfield's single plating Carrigg to give Colorado an early 2-0 advantage.

The home team truly broke the game open in the second inning, which proved to be the pivotal turning point. A flurry of hits and smart base running saw the Rockies tack on four more runs. McCarthy started the scoring with a bunt single that brought Sullivan home, and Moniak then singled to center to score McCarthy. Rumfield continued his impressive day with another single, driving in Moniak, before Castro’s single to right allowed Carrigg to cross the plate, expanding Colorado's lead to a formidable 6-0.

Cincinnati attempted to chip away at the deficit, as Trevino launched a solo home run to left center in the top of the third. However, the Rockies immediately answered in the bottom half, with McCarthy grounding out to bring Julien home and Moniak singling to score Tovar, further stretching their lead to 8-1. Rockies pitcher Tomoyuki Sugano delivered a solid performance, navigating 6.1 innings, striking out three, and surrendering three earned runs to secure the win.

Trevino struck again for the Reds in the fifth, crushing another solo shot to left center, but it was TJ Rumfield who put the game firmly out of reach in the bottom of the sixth. Rumfield blasted a two-run homer to right center, scoring Carrigg ahead of him and bringing his personal tally to four hits, four RBI, and a run scored on the day, solidifying his top batting performance. The Reds managed one more run in the seventh with Lowe's single scoring Marte, but the damage had already been done.

Ultimately, the Rockies' early offensive explosion and relentless scoring in the middle innings proved too much for the Reds to overcome. Colorado, performing as the pregame favorite, controlled the game from start to finish, riding Rumfield’s hot bat and a steady outing from Sugano to a convincing 10-3 win.
