πŸ“°Game Recap

Despite entering the contest as underdogs against a Seattle Mariners team with an identical 53-56 record, the Baltimore Orioles pulled off a 5-3 upset victory on the road, driven by stellar pitching and timely hitting. The Orioles broke the scoreless tie in the top of the third inning when Henderson launched a 370-foot home run to right-center field, bringing Alexander home and putting Baltimore up 2-0. Mariners' slugger Dominic Canzone, who would go on to have the best offensive day for Seattle, responded in the bottom of the fourth with an RBI single to center, scoring RodrΓguez and cutting the deficit to 2-1. However, this was the only run allowed by Orioles starter Kyle Bradish, who dominated the Mariners lineup, going 7.2 innings and striking out an impressive 12 batters while yielding just that single earned run.

The Orioles continued to extend their lead in the middle innings, keeping the Mariners at bay. In the top of the sixth, Taveras tripled to center field, driving in Alonso and pushing Baltimore's advantage to 3-1. An inning later, in the top of the seventh, Ward grounded into a double play, allowing Holliday to score and increasing the Orioles' lead to 4-1. Bradish's masterful performance ensured that Seattle's offense remained largely silent, preventing any significant comeback attempt through the late stages of the game.

Baltimore added what proved to be a crucial insurance run in the top of the ninth when Holliday hammered a 399-foot solo home run to center, extending the lead to 5-1. While the Orioles looked to close out a comfortable victory, the Mariners mounted a late-inning rally in the bottom of the ninth. Dominic Canzone connected for his second hit of the game, a 374-foot solo home run to right, followed immediately by Young's 375-foot solo shot to right, cutting the lead to 5-3. However, the late surge was not enough, and the Mariners' rally ultimately fell short, securing the 5-3 upset for the Orioles. Canzone finished the game as Seattle's top performer, collecting two hits, including his home run, and driving in two runs.
