Boston Red Sox vs Cincinnati Reds — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Cincinnati Reds held off a late-game rally from the Boston Red Sox, securing a narrow 6-5 victory. Cincinnati established an early lead that proved just enough to withstand Boston's offensive push in the tightly contested matchup.

Cincinnati managed to build an advantage in the initial frames of the game. Boston's starting pitcher Sonny Gray gave up three earned runs over his four innings pitched, allowing the Reds to put runs on the board and set the tone for the contest.

Despite Gray's five strikeouts, the runs conceded ultimately put Boston in a deficit they struggled to overcome. While the Red Sox fought back with offense, including a two-run home run by Wilyer Abreu, who finished with two hits and two RBIs, their efforts fell just short of a full comeback. Abreu's performance was a highlight for the Red Sox offense, but it could not fully erase the early damage.

The Reds' ability to capitalize on their scoring opportunities and protect their slim lead was the determining factor in their triumph. Cincinnati's victory moves their season record to 60-65, while the Red Sox now stand at 66-59.
