πŸ“°Game Recap

The Cincinnati Reds staged a resilient comeback, scoring six runs in the final two innings to overcome the Minnesota Twins 7-4 in extra innings. Cincinnati trailed for the majority of the contest, finally seizing the lead in the ninth and then prevailing in the tenth after the Twins forced an extra frame.

Minnesota established an early advantage, with Caratini's sacrifice fly bringing home the game's first run in the bottom of the first inning. The Twins then extended their lead to 3-0 in the third, as Bell singled in Buxton before Caratini drove in Larnach. The Reds managed to get on the board in the fourth when Stewart grounded out, allowing De La Cruz to score, but the Twins maintained a comfortable lead, largely due to the efforts of starting pitcher Bailey Ober.

Ober delivered a standout performance, striking out 10 batters over 6.1 scoreless innings and holding the Reds at bay through the eighth. However, Cincinnati broke through in the ninth, exploding for three runs on TJ Friedl's crucial double to center, which scored Myers, Steer, and Benson, giving the Reds their first lead of the game at 4-3. The Twins immediately answered in the bottom of the ninth, though, as Martin doubled to left field, driving in Outman and sending the game into extra innings. The Reds quickly reclaimed momentum in the tenth, first scoring De La Cruz on a pair of fielding errors by Martin and Gray, then securing a decisive lead when Hinds doubled to left, plating Benson and SuΓ‘rez.

Cincinnati's offense, stifled for much of the afternoon, ultimately found its rhythm when it mattered most, overcoming both dominant pitching and a resilient Twins lineup to secure a hard-fought road victory. Following the contest, Cincinnati moved to 60-65, while Minnesota's record dropped to 60-66.
