Game Recap
The Los Angeles Dodgers quickly erased an early deficit against the Houston Astros, dominating the middle innings to secure an 8-3 road victory. A consistent offensive attack, punctuated by a four-run third inning, proved decisive after initially falling behind in the opening frame.
Los Angeles initially took the lead in the first inning when Kyle Tucker reached on an infield single, scoring Smith. Houston quickly responded to claim the lead, however, as Altuve singled home Alvarez and Paredes scored on a wild pitch from Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto, giving the Astros a 2-1 advantage. The Dodgers swiftly reclaimed the lead in the second inning with Freelandβs solo home run and a double from Smith that brought home Ohtani.
The Dodgers truly swung the game in their favor with a four-run outburst in the third inning. Kyle Tucker led off the frame with a solo home run to right-center, his second run production of the contest. Later, Ohtani drove in Pages with a fielder's choice, and a crucial two-run single from Freeman, aided by a fielding error by right fielder Smith, rounded out the dominant inning. Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto settled down after a rocky first inning, ultimately striking out eight over six innings while allowing only three earned runs, effectively neutralizing the Astros' bats.
Despite an early challenge from the Astros, the Dodgers' balanced attack and strong pitching performance allowed them to control the game from the second inning onward. Their win improves their record to 75-51, while Houston falls to 63-63.
