Boston Red Sox vs Detroit Tigers — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Boston Red Sox erased an early deficit with a decisive five-run seventh inning, ultimately securing a narrow 5-4 victory over the Detroit Tigers.

After a scoreless start to the game, the Tigers broke the deadlock in the bottom of the sixth inning when Keith and Jones scored on a throwing error by Red Sox third baseman Monasterio, giving Detroit a 2-0 lead. However, Boston quickly mounted a response in the ensuing frame.

Boston's pivotal seventh inning proved decisive, as they plated all five of their runs in a dramatic comeback. Jarren Duran ignited the offense with a three-run shot to left field, scoring Narváez and Monasterio to put Boston ahead 3-2. The rally continued when Abreu singled home Yoshida, and Mayer later drove in Abreu, pushing Boston's advantage to 5-2. This offensive explosion came after Red Sox starter Payton Tolle masterfully navigated seven innings without surrendering an earned run, striking out eight Tigers, despite the unearned runs in the sixth that initially put Boston behind. While Detroit mounted a threat in the eighth with Dingler's two-run double, it wasn't enough to overcome Boston's burst.

Ultimately, the Boston Red Sox's potent seventh-inning rally, coupled with Payton Tolle's dominant performance on the mound, allowed them to overcome an early deficit and secure a hard-fought road victory. Following this win, the Red Sox improve to 67-58, while the Tigers fall to 60-65.
