Scott was particularly effective, striking out eight and allowing only one earned run through five innings, setting a tone the Marlins could not match offensively.

Ultimately, the Mets' combination of strong starting pitching and timely hitting proved too much for the Marlins, who struggled to generate offense throughout the contest. The win moves New York to 59-70 on the season, while Miami drops to 64-65.
