Philadelphia Phillies vs Los Angeles Dodgers — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Philadelphia Phillies rallied in the eighth inning, scoring three runs to overcome a two-run deficit and secure a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Philadelphia initially took the lead in the second inning when Bohm launched a solo home run to center field. The Dodgers quickly responded in the bottom half of the inning, as Call singled to center, driving in Smith to tie the game. Los Angeles then edged ahead in the fourth, with Espinal hitting a sacrifice fly that brought Call home. The Dodgers extended their advantage in the seventh when Mookie Betts singled, allowing Andy Pages to score and make it a 3-1 game.

The game's turning point came in the top of the eighth inning, the Phillies' largest scoring inning with three runs. After the Dodgers had extended their lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh, the Phillies began their rally. Harper singled to right field, driving in Crawford to narrow the margin to one run. Moments later, Edmundo Sosa delivered the decisive blow, launching a two-run home run to left-center that scored Harper and put Philadelphia ahead 4-3. This pivotal frame negated a solid effort from Dodgers starter Roki Sasaki, who had limited the Phillies to just one earned run across 5.1 innings while fanning seven batters.

The Phillies ultimately prevailed by capitalizing on their late-game opportunities, demonstrating resilience to snatch a victory on the road. This comeback improves Philadelphia's record to 69-58, while the Dodgers now stand at 75-52.
