๐Ÿ“ฐGame Recap

The Washington Nationals overcame a resilient Minnesota Twins squad in a tightly contested matchup, securing a two-run victory after the Twins twice erased leads. Washington's offense provided timely hitting throughout the game, culminating in a decisive seventh inning. Keibert Ruiz was central to the Nationals' attack, driving in four runs and scoring three himself.

Minnesota initially jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning when Lee singled, bringing home Jeffers and Keaschall. The Nationals quickly responded, tying the game in the bottom of the third; Ruiz's double scored Young, and Nuรฑez followed with a sacrifice fly that plated Ruiz. The see-saw battle continued into the fifth frame. Gray's infield single gave the Twins a brief 3-2 advantage before Washington's largest scoring inning of the game. Ruiz delivered again, doubling home Young and Tena, and later scored on a fielder's choice to extend the lead to 5-3.

Despite holding a two-run lead after their three-run fifth, the Nationals watched the Twins chip away. Jeffers launched a solo home run in the sixth, and Bell's double in the seventh inning leveled the score once more at 5-5. However, Washington immediately seized control again in the bottom of the seventh. Ruiz broke the tie with a solo home run, his third hit of the night. Mead then added an insurance run with a single to right, scoring Wood and pushing the lead to 7-5, a margin the Nationals would hold.

The Nationals' ability to answer every Twins rally, spearheaded by Keibert Ruiz's dominant performance at the plate, ultimately decided the contest. His three hits, including the go-ahead homer, and four RBIs proved too much for Minnesota to overcome. The Washington Nationals improved their record to 61-66, while the Minnesota Twins fell to 60-66.
