New York Mets vs Washington Nationals — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Washington Nationals secured a tight 3-1 victory over the New York Mets, largely thanks to a dominant pitching performance and a single decisive swing of the bat.

Washington's offense scratched out just enough runs, with Joey Wiemer providing a crucial two-run homer. That blast, coupled with stellar work from starter Cade Cavalli, proved to be the difference. The Mets managed only a single run across the entire contest, unable to generate sustained threats against the Nationals' pitching staff.

Cade Cavalli stifled the Mets through five scoreless innings, allowing his team to establish a lead. His impressive outing ensured that New York's offense never found its footing. Joey Wiemer's two-run home run was instrumental, providing the majority of Washington's scoring output and giving them the cushion needed to secure the win.

Ultimately, the Nationals' ability to combine stingy pitching with one decisive swing of the bat proved too much for the struggling Mets offense. The win moves Washington's record to 61-67, while New York falls to 57-71.
