Kirk then followed with a single to right field, plating both Guerrero Jr. and Springer, extending Toronto's advantage to four runs. This offensive surge proved insurmountable, as Kevin Gausman's 5.2 innings of one-run ball had effectively stifled the Cardinals' bats. Ultimately, Toronto's combination of timely hitting and Gausman's controlled pitching performance proved too much for the Cardinals to overcome, as the Blue Jays prevailed. The Blue Jays' record now stands at 52-59, while the Cardinals fell to 54-57.
