The Orioles, favored in pregame markets, lived up to expectations, thanks in large part to a stellar outing from pitcher Trevor Rogers and timely hitting from Blaze Alexander. Both teams showcased resilience, but Baltimore ultimately held on for the win in a low-scoring contest.

After a scoreless start, the Orioles broke the deadlock in the bottom of the fourth inning. Blaze Alexander delivered a crucial blow, singling to left field and driving in both Mayo and O'Neill, giving Baltimore a 2-0 lead. Washington quickly responded in the top of the fifth, as Ruiz singled to center, allowing Young to cross the plate and cut the deficit to a single run. Throughout this period of back-and-forth scoring, Orioles starter Trevor Rogers maintained his composure on the mound.

Rogers continued to stifle the Nationals' lineup, ultimately pitching into the seventh inning. In the bottom of the seventh, Baltimore added an insurance run when Mayo doubled to left, scoring Ward and extending the Orioles' lead to 3-1. Rogers exited after 6.1 innings, having fanned seven batters and surrendered just one earned run, a performance pivotal in the Orioles' triumph. Alexander's two runs batted in proved to be the difference-maker in the low-scoring contest, as Baltimore successfully closed out the game to improve their record.
