๐Ÿ“ฐGame Recap

Washington secured a narrow victory over Miami, pushing across all of its runs in the opening frame before holding off the Marlins for the remainder of the contest. The Nationals' early offensive burst, highlighted by a Jacob Young home run, set the tone, and a dominant outing from Foster Griffin locked down the win.

The Nationals quickly took control in the top of the first inning. CJ Abrams singled home Mead to open the scoring. Immediately after, Young connected for a 403-foot two-run blast to left field, extending Washington's lead to three runs. Miami responded in the bottom half of the first when Jonathan Edwards launched a solo home run to left center. Later in the inning, Jorge Lopez crossed the plate on a throwing error by first baseman Mead, bringing the Marlins within a single run.

Despite Miami's efforts to close the gap in the initial frame, the early three-run surge by Washington proved insurmountable. The Nationals' largest scoring inning of three runs in the first inning was sustained by exceptional pitching. Foster Griffin delivered a stellar performance for Washington, allowing only one earned run over seven innings while striking out nine Marlins hitters. His ability to stifle Miami's offense after the first inning was the key factor in preserving the slim advantage.

The Nationals' ability to capitalize on early opportunities and then rely on a stellar pitching effort ultimately sealed their victory. Holding Miami scoreless for eight consecutive innings after the first was the deciding factor. The win improved Washington's record to 61-66, while the Marlins fell to 64-63.
