Game Recap
The Kansas City Royals mounted a late-game comeback to defeat the Detroit Tigers, erasing a two-run deficit in the eighth inning before securing a walk-off victory in the ninth.
The Tigers initially took the lead in the second inning when Torkelson grounded into a double play, allowing Greene to score. Kansas City quickly answered in the bottom of the frame, as Collins singled home Caglianone to tie the game. Detroit broke the tie in the sixth, with PΓ©rez doubling to center to score Dingler, followed by Torkelson's double to left that brought home PΓ©rez, extending their lead to two runs.
The turning point came in the eighth inning when the Royals rallied for two runs to draw even. Isbel's single to right allowed Massey to score, with Isbel advancing to third on a fielding error by right fielder PΓ©rez. Garcia then singled to center, bringing Isbel home to tie the game at 3-3. Despite a strong outing from Tigers starter Keider Montero, who pitched 6.0 innings and allowed only one earned run, the bullpen could not maintain the lead. Isbel delivered the decisive blow in the bottom of the ninth, singling to left field to score Loftin and complete the comeback.
Ultimately, Kansas City's relentless late-inning offense, spearheaded by Kyle Isbel's clutch hitting, proved too much for Detroit to overcome. The Royals improved to 52-74, while the Tigers fell to 60-65.
