Los Angeles Chargers vs Houston Texans — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Los Angeles Chargers secured their first victory of the season by pulling away from the Houston Texans with a dominant second-half performance, effectively shutting down Houston's offense after an early lead.

The Chargers initially took a 3-0 lead on a Cameron Dicker field goal in the first quarter, but Houston quickly responded when Davis Mills connected with Jared Wayne for a 5-yard touchdown pass, giving the Texans a 7-3 advantage. Los Angeles reclaimed the lead in the second quarter on an Amar Johnson 7-yard run, making it 10-7 by halftime. Dicker added another field goal, this time from 48 yards, in the third quarter to push the lead to 13-7.

The turning point came decisively in the fourth quarter, where the Chargers put up 14 unanswered points to cement their victory. Amar Johnson found the end zone again with a 1-yard run, followed by a successful two-point conversion he ran himself, widening the gap to 21-7. Later in the final frame, DJ Uiagalelei threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Devonte Ross, sealing Houston's fate as their offense remained scoreless after the first quarter. This late surge highlighted the Chargers' ability to control the game in the decisive moments, particularly stifling the Texans' attempts to mount a comeback.

Ultimately, the Los Angeles Chargers prevailed by steadily building momentum throughout the game and maintaining a suffocating defense that denied the Texans any further points after the opening quarter. The Chargers improved their record to 1-2, while the Texans fell to 0-3.
