Though the Giants mounted a comeback attempt with an Eldridge double in the third and a two-run homer from Koss in the fourth, closing the gap to 6-5, Arizona's bats kept answering. Vargas drove in two more runs in the sixth, followed by Carroll's second RBI of the game, and McCann added another run in the seventh, pushing the lead to 10-5.

The Diamondbacks' consistent offensive pressure, particularly their ability to generate runs in bunches and answer Giants scoring, proved to be the decisive factor in securing the win. The pregame favorite ultimately prevailed, with the Diamondbacks improving to 72-64, while the Giants fell to 55-80.
