The Baltimore Orioles secured a narrow 4-3 victory over the Oakland Athletics in extra innings, breaking a late-game tie and then holding on to preserve the win. The pregame favorite, Baltimore, needed a tenth-inning rally to put away the tenacious Athletics in a tightly contested matchup.

Baltimore initially took an early lead, scoring two runs in the second inning. Beavers singled home Mayo, and then Taveras crossed the plate on a fielding error by pitcher Lopez, giving the Orioles a 2-0 advantage. However, Oakland steadily chipped away at the deficit, beginning with Jonah Heim's solo home run in the bottom of the seventh. The Athletics then tied the game in the eighth inning when Butler singled to left, bringing Bolte home and ultimately sending the game into extra innings.

The decisive moment arrived in the top of the tenth inning. Baltimore capitalized on the extra-innings rule, scoring two crucial runs to establish a 4-2 lead. Mayo singled to right field, driving in Narváez for the go-ahead run, and Encarnacion-Strand followed with another single, scoring Henderson to provide an insurance run. Despite Gelof’s RBI single in the bottom of the tenth, the Athletics could not completely overcome the two-run deficit. Orioles starter Brandon Young delivered a strong performance, allowing just one earned run over seven innings while striking out four, which kept the game within reach for Baltimore.

Ultimately, the Orioles' clutch hitting in the tenth inning, coupled with Young's quality start, proved to be the difference in a hard-fought game. With the win, Baltimore improved its record to 66-69, while Oakland fell to 53-82.
