The Chicago White Sox, entering play as underdogs against the favored Cleveland Guardians, pulled off a 3-1 road upset thanks to timely hitting and a stellar pitching performance. The White Sox wasted no time seizing an early lead in the top of the first inning when Colson Montgomery doubled to left field. Andrew Vaughn scored on an error by left fielder Ingle, allowing Montgomery to advance safely to third and put Chicago up 1-0.

The game remained a tight, low-scoring affair, largely due to White Sox starter Sean Burke's dominant outing. Burke silenced the Guardians' bats for much of the contest, ultimately finishing with 6.0 innings pitched, surrendering just one earned run while striking out an impressive 11 batters. The only blemish on his line came in the bottom of the fifth when Cleveland's Hedges launched a 388-foot solo home run to center field, tying the game at 1-1.

With the game deadlocked, Montgomery once again delivered a pivotal blow for Chicago. In the top of the eighth inning, he crushed a 402-foot home run to right field, putting the White Sox back on top with a 2-1 lead. Chicago then added an insurance run in the ninth when Andrew Vaughn hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Peters and extending the lead to 3-1.

Montgomery finished the day as the top offensive performer, collecting two hits, including his crucial home run, and driving in both of the White Sox's earned runs. Coupled with Burke's masterful performance on the mound, the White Sox were able to hold off the favored Guardians and secure a valuable road victory, improving their record to 56-50.
