Milwaukee Brewers vs Arizona Diamondbacks — Recap

📰Game Recap

Arizona secured a narrow 4-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers, successfully fending off a late-game surge from the favored visitors. The Diamondbacks built an early lead with a three-run first inning and added a crucial insurance run in the eighth, which proved just enough as Milwaukee mounted a comeback attempt with solo home runs.

The Diamondbacks quickly established control in the bottom of the first inning. Adrian Del Castillo blasted a three-run homer to right field, driving in Corbin Carroll and Gabriel Moreno and giving Arizona an immediate 3-0 advantage. Milwaukee's offense remained quiet until the fifth inning when Christian Yelich connected for a two-run shot to right-center, also scoring Brice Turang, cutting the deficit to a single run. The score remained 3-2 for several tense innings until the bottom of the eighth.

The Diamondbacks' initial three-run surge in the first inning, fueled by Del Castillo's homer, set the tone and provided a lead they would never relinquish. While Brandon Woodruff collected six strikeouts, his 3.2 innings allowed all three of those early runs, putting the Brewers behind. The game's decisive moment came in the eighth when Jace Vargas doubled to left, scoring Jorge Barrosa and extending Arizona's lead to 4-2. That single run restored a two-run cushion, making Jackson Chourio's subsequent ninth-inning solo blast merely a cosmetic cut into the lead.

Ultimately, Arizona's ability to capitalize on early opportunities and then add a critical late-game run allowed them to withstand Milwaukee's power-hitting rally. The Diamondbacks' timely offense proved just enough to secure the upset against the favored Brewers. Following this result, Milwaukee stands at 69-44, while Arizona improved to 61-53.
