Kansas City started strong in the opening frame when Perez's single brought home Garcia and Witt Jr., putting them up 2-0. Collins then extended Kansas City's lead with a solo shot to right center in the sixth, creating a two-run cushion. Guardians starter Gavin Williams allowed all five earned runs over his six innings of work, including both of Kansas City's crucial home runs.

The Royals' ability to respond to Cleveland's lone offensive outburst with timely power hitting secured the win, preventing the Guardians from building any momentum. Kansas City now holds a 52-74 record, while Cleveland falls to 60-66.
