Detroit Tigers vs Cincinnati Reds — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Detroit Tigers rallied late, erupting for six unanswered runs across the final three innings to defeat the Cincinnati Reds 8-3. Their potent offense, fueled by a series of timely home runs, proved too much for the Reds after falling behind in the middle frames.

Detroit initially took the lead in the first inning when Carpenter doubled, scoring Torres and Greene. However, Cincinnati steadily clawed back. Lowe's solo home run in the second narrowed the gap, and Bleday tied the game with a long ball in the fourth. The Reds then pulled ahead in the fifth when McLain doubled to left, bringing Hayes home, giving them a 3-2 advantage.

The decisive blow came in the seventh inning when the Tigers mounted a four-run rally, their largest scoring frame of the contest. Lee ignited the outburst with a two-run homer to center, giving Detroit a 4-3 lead. Torkelson immediately followed with a solo blast to left-center, and Vierling later added to the tally with a sacrifice fly that scored Carpenter. Gleyber Torres, who had an excellent day at the plate with three hits, including a crucial two-run home run in the eighth inning that brought McGonigle home, further solidified the Tigers' advantage.

Ultimately, the Tigers' late-game power surge was the difference, overcoming Cincinnati's mid-game lead to secure a decisive victory. Detroit now stands at 61-64, while the Reds fall to 59-66.
