Miami Marlins vs San Francisco Giants — Recap

📰Game Recap

The San Francisco Giants mounted a determined comeback against the Miami Marlins on Sunday, erasing an early three-run deficit to secure a 6-3 victory. A pivotal three-run home run in the seventh inning powered the Giants to take the lead for good, capping a steady effort to overcome Miami’s initial advantage.

Miami initially seized control in the top of the second inning when Pauley launched a 362-foot homer to right field, bringing Edwards and Hicks across the plate for a 3-0 lead. San Francisco began to chip away in the third when Lee scored on a throwing error by Miami shortstop Lopez during an Arraez fielder’s choice. The Giants continued their rally in the bottom of the sixth, first drawing within one run on Devers' double that scored Schmitt, and then tying the game at three when Gilbert singled to left, plating Devers.

The turning point came swiftly in the bottom of the seventh. With two runners on, Casey Schmitt crushed a 406-foot home run to left-center, driving in Lee and Chapman to give San Francisco a commanding 6-3 lead. This decisive blast punctuated the Giants' methodical comeback, which was also bolstered by Landen Roupp's efficient performance on the mound; he pitched into the eighth inning, surrendering only three earned runs while striking out six.

San Francisco’s offense demonstrated resilience, patiently chipping away at the Marlins' early lead before Schmitt delivered the game-winning blow, allowing the Giants to complete the comeback. The Marlins now stand at 64-63, while the Giants improved their record to 52-73.
