Game Recap
The Houston Astros secured a 2-0 victory over the Cleveland Guardians, thanks to an early two-run blast and a dominant pitching performance that stifled Cleveland's offense throughout the contest.
The decisive moment came swiftly in the opening frame. Yordan Alvarez connected for a two-run homer to right center field, a 422-foot shot that brought home Correa, giving Houston a 2-0 lead. This first-inning power surge proved to be the entirety of the game's offense.
Following Alvarez's early heroics, the Astros' pitching staff took control, effectively shutting down the Guardians' lineup. Peter Lambert delivered a stellar outing, working six scoreless innings while striking out eight batters, providing the crucial foundation for the win. His strong performance ensured the early lead held, as Cleveland was unable to generate any offense to counter Houston's initial burst.
Ultimately, the Astros' ability to capitalize on an early scoring opportunity and then rely on superb pitching to maintain their advantage was the deciding factor. Houston now stands at 64-62, while Cleveland's record drops to 60-66.
