The Houston Astros, entering as underdogs despite a slightly better record, pulled off a narrow 3-2 upset victory over the favored Los Angeles Angels, thanks to a pair of clutch hits from Yordan Alvarez. Alvarez wasted no time making an impact, launching a 427-foot solo home run to right center in the very first inning, giving the Astros an early 1-0 lead and setting the tone for his stellar day at the plate.

The Angels, however, were quick to answer. After Reid Detmers navigated through 5.0 innings for the Angels, striking out nine but surrendering two earned runs, his offense provided support. Los Angeles first tied the game in the bottom of the third when Grissom singled to left, allowing Neto to score. Houston momentarily regained the lead in the fourth courtesy of a 411-foot solo blast from Walker, but the Angels promptly knotted the score again in the fifth as Soler doubled to left, bringing home Trout and making it a 2-2 game.

With the game deadlocked heading into the ninth inning, Yordan Alvarez once again stepped up as the hero for Houston. Delivering a crucial single to center field, Alvarez drove in Allen, pushing the Astros ahead 3-2. This late-game heroics cemented Alvarez's performance as the top batter of the contest, finishing with two hits, including his home run, and accounting for two of Houston's three RBIs. The Astros then held on, securing the upset win and moving to 54-55 on the season.
