Kansas City Royals vs St. Louis Cardinals — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Kansas City Royals secured a 2-0 shutout victory over the St. Louis Cardinals, driven by a dominant pitching performance and the timely bat of Salvador Perez, who accounted for both runs in the low-scoring affair. Kansas City took an early lead in the top of the first inning when Perez hit a sacrifice fly to left field, allowing Garcia to score. The Royals then extended their advantage in the fourth. Perez again delivered, launching a 393-foot solo home run to left. These two offensive plays proved to be the entirety of the game's scoring. Despite a strong outing from St. Louis starter Andre Pallante, who struck out seven batters and surrendered just one earned run over 6.2 innings, the Cardinals' offense could not break through. Their lineup failed to produce a single run against the Royals' collective pitching effort, squandering Pallante's quality start. The Kansas City staff effectively shut down the Cardinals at every turn, preserving the narrow lead. Ultimately, the Kansas City Royals prevailed on the strength of a stellar pitching performance from their staff, perfectly complemented by the two crucial RBIs provided by Salvador Perez. The victory improved Kansas City's record to 52-74, while the Cardinals fell to 64-62.
