πŸ“°Game Recap

The San Diego Padres mounted a persistent comeback from an early deficit, twice tying the game before securing a walk-off victory against the Miami Marlins in the 10th inning. Despite falling behind by four runs, the Padres systematically chipped away at Miami's lead, ultimately prevailing in extra innings.

Miami initially seized control, scoring three runs in the second inning, highlighted by Lopez's two-run home run to left-center after Marsee had scored. Samad Taylor quickly countered for San Diego with a solo blast in the bottom of the frame. The Marlins then extended their lead to 5-1 in the third with an RBI double from RamΓrez and a subsequent RBI single by Ruiz. However, the Padres orchestrated a three-run rally of their own in the bottom of the third, leveraging a walk and a balk to close the gap to a single run. Fernando Tatis Jr. then knotted the score at five in the fourth inning with a solo shot.

The game remained deadlocked until the sixth inning when Jake Cronenworth doubled, advancing France to third and bringing home Harris, giving San Diego its first lead of the contest. The Padres' bullpen, including Randy Vasquez who delivered two scoreless innings with two strikeouts, helped hold the lead. Miami, however, refused to yield, as Bryan Conine belted a game-tying solo home run in the top of the ninth, forcing extra innings.

San Diego's resilience ultimately proved decisive. After Miami failed to score in the top of the tenth, Campusano advanced to third for the Padres, setting the stage for Salas to hit a walk-off single to center, scoring Cronenworth from third and capping the hard-fought victory. The Padres, who were favored to win, moved to 86-69 on the season, while the Marlins dropped to 76-79.
