Milwaukee initially took the lead when Gary Sanchez launched a solo home run to left in the second inning. An unearned run followed in the third, as Brice Turang's single led to a fielding error by center fielder Merrill, allowing Joey Ortiz to score. Fernando Tatis Jr. scored on an infield single by Jake Cronenworth, knotting the score at 2-2 and negating a strong performance from Brewers starter Dustin May, who allowed only one run over seven innings. The contest then went to extra innings, where the Brewers momentarily regained the lead in the top of the 11th on another Gary Sanchez RBI double. However, the Padres refused to yield, scoring twice in the bottom half of the frame; Merrill's sacrifice fly brought in the tying run, and Luis Campusano delivered the decisive blow with a single to right, plating Mason Song for the walk-off win.

San Diego's resilience and timely hitting ultimately proved the difference, as they repeatedly answered Milwaukee's challenges to secure a hard-fought victory. The Padres improved their record to 65-57, while the Brewers fell to 74-47.
