New York Mets vs Arizona Diamondbacks — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Arizona Diamondbacks secured a narrow victory over the New York Mets, overcoming an early deficit with a timely two-run single that proved to be the difference.

The Mets initially took the lead in the second inning when Baty doubled to center field, bringing Semien home. However, the Diamondbacks quickly responded in the bottom of the third. Ildemaro Vargas delivered a crucial single to left, driving in both Carroll and Perdomo to put Arizona ahead by a single run.

Vargas's two-run single in the third inning ultimately swung the outcome, accounting for all of Arizona's scoring in the tightly contested game. After the Mets' initial run, Merrill Kelly delivered a dominant performance on the mound for the Diamondbacks, allowing just one earned run over seven innings while striking out six. His ability to shut down the Mets' offense after their early lead preserved Arizona's slim advantage.

Ultimately, the Diamondbacks' ability to capitalize on a single scoring opportunity, combined with stellar pitching, allowed them to secure the win in a defensive battle. This win moves the Diamondbacks to 67-60, while the Mets fall to 57-70.
