New York Mets vs Miami Marlins — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Miami Marlins secured a 4-1 victory over the New York Mets, propelled by a stellar pitching performance from Max Meyer and a multi-homer game from Liam Hicks. Meyer stifled the Mets lineup through seven scoreless innings, allowing the Marlins offense just enough room to build an insurmountable lead.

Miami opened the scoring in the second inning when Caissie ripped a double to right field, bringing home Marsee and Norby. An inning later, Hicks extended the lead with a solo blast to right center. He struck again in the fifth, launching another solo home run to right, further cushioning the Marlins' advantage. The Mets finally broke the shutout bid in the ninth inning, as Vientos singled to left, allowing Taylor to score.

Meyer's command on the mound was the definitive factor, as he mowed down the Mets offense with 8 strikeouts over his seven innings of work, never allowing New York to mount a serious threat. His dominant outing kept the Mets off the scoreboard entirely through the seventh frame, ensuring the Marlins' relatively modest four-run tally was more than sufficient. Hicks's two solo home runs accounted for half of Miami's scoring, providing key insurance runs against Meyer's impenetrable performance.

Ultimately, the game hinged on Meyer's ability to completely shut down the opposition, giving Miami's offense the luxury of scoring just enough to win. His strong outing ensured that the Mets' late rally was a mere footnote in a game already decided. The Marlins now stand at 65-63, while the Mets fall to 57-71.
