πŸ“°Game Recap

The Toronto Blue Jays roared back from an early deficit, unleashing an eight-run outburst in the eighth inning to defeat the Minnesota Twins. After falling behind by two runs and trailing for much of the contest, Toronto’s offense ignited late, securing a decisive victory.

Minnesota initially grabbed a lead in the first inning on a solo home run from Buxton. Toronto quickly answered back in the second with back-to-back solo shots from Lenyn Sosa and Straw, briefly putting them ahead. However, the Twins capitalized on two Blue Jays errors in the bottom of the second, scoring two runs to retake the lead, then extended their advantage to 4-2 in the fifth inning when Larnach singled home Gray.

The turning point arrived in the eighth inning, with the Blue Jays trailing by a single run after Okamoto's solo homer in the sixth. Okamoto singled to center to tie the game at 4-4, and Lenyn Sosa followed with an infield single that scored Guerrero Jr. to give Toronto its first lead since the second frame. The rally continued as Straw drew a bases-loaded walk, and Schneider then doubled to left, plating two more runs. Valenzuela put the game out of reach with a three-run blast to center, completing an eight-run inning. Blue Jays starter Dylan Cease kept his team in the game, working seven innings and striking out seven while allowing only three earned runs.

Toronto’s resilient offense, sparked by clutch hitting and capitalized opportunities, ultimately overpowered the Twins. Their massive eighth inning provided the cushion needed to secure the comeback win, improving the Blue Jays' record to 62-65. The Twins, meanwhile, dropped to 60-66.
