Chicago Cubs vs Los Angeles Dodgers — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Chicago Cubs staged a remarkable comeback, overcoming an early four-run deficit against the Los Angeles Dodgers with a late offensive surge. Dansby Swanson delivered the decisive blow, hitting a go-ahead two-run home run in the ninth inning to cap the Cubs' victory.

Los Angeles took control early in the third inning when Smith launched a three-run home run to right center, driving in Kim and Freeland. An inning later, the Dodgers extended their lead to 4-0 after Kim's single to center brought Muncy home. For much of the game, Dodgers starter Emmet Sheehan was dominant, recording 10 strikeouts through 6.1 innings while allowing just one earned run.

The momentum shifted dramatically in the top of the seventh. Swanson ignited the Cubs' rally with a two-run triple to center field, scoring Ballesteros and Crow-Armstrong and cutting the deficit to 4-2. Moments later, Hoerner singled to left, allowing Swanson to cross the plate and make it a one-run game. The Cubs then completed their comeback in the eighth inning when Bregman hit a solo home run to left center, tying the score at four apiece.

Chicago's resilience and persistent hitting ultimately secured the win, as they chipped away at the Dodgers' lead before delivering the final blow. The Cubs now stand at 73-53 on the season, while the Dodgers' record moved to 74-52.
