📰Game Recap

The Los Angeles Dodgers overcame multiple early deficits to secure a decisive 12-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs. A relentless offensive surge, highlighted by a dominant six-run fourth inning, proved to be the turning point, transforming a closely contested affair into a comfortable win for Los Angeles.

The Cubs initially established their lead with solo home runs from Suzuki in the second inning and Ballesteros in the fourth, along with an RBI single from Busch in the third. Max Muncy’s two-run homer in the bottom of the third briefly tied the game, setting the stage for a dramatic back-and-forth contest as Chicago nudged ahead again in the next frame.

However, the Dodgers' bats exploded in the pivotal fourth inning, erasing Chicago’s lead for good. Freeland doubled to drive in the tying run, initiating the rally. Freeman followed with a go-ahead single, before T. Hernández singled home two more runs. Further RBI singles from Rushing and Pages extended the lead to 8-3, capping the inning’s six-run outburst. Though Amaya connected for another solo home run for the Cubs in the fifth, Los Angeles continued to pile on runs in the sixth inning, with Pages hitting a two-run double, Kim adding an RBI groundout, and Pages ultimately scoring on a wild pitch.

Ultimately, the Dodgers’ ability to string together hits and capitalize with runners on base powered their comprehensive win, overshadowing the Cubs’ reliance on solo home runs. Los Angeles now stands at 75-51, while Chicago falls to 72-54.
