Boston Red Sox vs Baltimore Orioles — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Boston Red Sox delivered a dominant performance, overwhelming the Baltimore Orioles with a relentless offensive attack and stellar pitching to secure a decisive victory. Boston's offense consistently piled on runs throughout the game, culminating in a historic ninth-inning explosion that cemented their control over the contest.

The Red Sox established an early lead in the second inning, stringing together three scoring plays. Durbin doubled home the first run, followed by an RBI single from Kiner-Falefa, and a third run scored on Rafaela's single. Willson Contreras added another run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth. The lead significantly expanded in the fifth when Wong cleared the bases with a three-run double. Baltimore managed to scratch across their only run in the bottom of the seventh on a groundout by Taveras, but the Red Sox quickly extinguished any thoughts of a comeback.

While Boston built a commanding lead early, their truly definitive moment came in a record-setting ninth inning, when they unleashed a 10-run outburst. The rally began with a run-scoring single from Willson Contreras, followed by Monasterio's four-run home run to center field, blowing the game wide open. Durbin then added a two-run homer, and Contreras capped off his exceptional day with a three-run shot, pushing his total to five RBIs for the game. This late offensive surge underscored a complete performance that also featured six shutout innings from starter Garrett Crochet, who struck out seven without allowing an earned run.

Ultimately, the Red Sox's combination of lights-out pitching and an offense that never let up dictated the lopsided outcome. From the early innings to the final frame, Boston simply overpowered Baltimore, leaving no doubt as to the game's victor. The Red Sox now stand at 67-58, while the Orioles fall to 61-64.
