The Padres began to chip away in the fifth when France connected for his first home run of the evening, a solo shot to right center.

The game's turning point came in the seventh inning as San Diego’s offense ignited for four runs. Sheets singled to right, scoring Machado and Merrill to cut the deficit to 4-3. Fermin then hit a sacrifice fly to left, bringing home Bogaerts to tie the game. Later in the frame, Laureano’s sacrifice fly allowed Sheets to score on a crucial throwing error by right fielder Carroll, giving the Padres their first lead. German Marquez absorbed four earned runs over six innings, keeping his team within striking distance.

San Diego’s persistent offense, powered by France’s two key home runs and the pivotal seventh-inning rally, ultimately proved too much for the Diamondbacks. The Padres improved their record to 69-59, while Arizona dropped to 66-62.
