Chicago White Sox vs Seattle Mariners — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Chicago White Sox mounted a dramatic ninth-inning comeback, scoring two runs to secure a narrow 2-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners. After trailing for nearly the entire game, Chicago broke through in the final frame to complete the improbable rally.

Seattle had established an early lead in the bottom of the first inning. Julio Rodríguez crossed the plate on a fielder's choice to shortstop by Wisdom, giving the Mariners a 1-0 advantage. That slim margin held throughout much of the contest, largely due to a dominant performance from Mariners starter Bryce Miller.

Miller proved formidable, stifling the White Sox bats over 5.2 innings with seven strikeouts and allowing no earned runs. However, his strong outing was ultimately undone in the decisive top of the ninth. Chicago's offense finally broke through against the Seattle bullpen when Meidroth singled to right field, allowing Hill to score the tying run. Andrew Benintendi then delivered a clutch infield single to second base, bringing home Vargas for what proved to be the winning run.

The White Sox's persistence in the face of a dominant pitching performance earlier in the game allowed them to prevail, seizing their opportunity in the final inning. Chicago improved its record to 66-58, while Seattle dropped to 59-67.
