Milwaukee Brewers vs Chicago Cubs — Recap

📰Game Recap

Milwaukee Brewers secured a road victory over the Chicago Cubs, riding stellar pitching and timely hitting to build an early lead that withstood a late rally. Jacob Misiorowski's dominant start and a key home run from Brice Turang established an advantage the Cubs couldn't overcome.

The Brewers wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as Mitchell singled in Turang in the top of the first inning. Two more runs came across in the third, beginning with Chourio scoring on a wild pitch by Brown, followed by Bauers' single that drove in Contreras, extending Milwaukee's lead to 3-0. The score remained locked until the eighth inning when Turang blasted a two-run home run to left-center, pushing the Brewers' advantage to five runs. The Cubs finally broke through in the bottom of the eighth, with Hoerner's single bringing home Crow-Armstrong, and Suzuki's infield single allowing Amaya to score, cutting the deficit to three.

The Brewers' control of the game was largely cemented by Jacob Misiorowski's outstanding performance on the mound. He stifled the Cubs' offense, striking out eight batters over six scoreless innings, preventing any early Chicago threat. This dominant start allowed Milwaukee to maintain their initial lead and build upon it. Brice Turang's three-hit day, capped by his eighth-inning two-run shot, proved to be the decisive blow, making the Cubs' subsequent two-run rally largely academic. Turang also scored twice, underscoring his offensive impact throughout the contest.

Ultimately, the Brewers' combination of stingy pitching and crucial hits proved too much for the Cubs, as they effectively shut down Chicago's offense for most of the game before creating enough separation to absorb a late surge. Milwaukee improved its record to 78-48, while Chicago fell to 72-54.
