The Houston Astros secured a 6-4 victory over the Los Angeles Angels, overcoming an early deficit to fulfill their pregame status as the favored team. This win brings the Astros' record to 52-55, while the Angels fall to 42-64. The Angels initially dominated, jumping out to a comfortable lead in the early innings. In the bottom of the first, a sacrifice fly from Schanuel scored Neto, followed by Vaughn Grissom's single driving in Trout, giving Los Angeles a 2-0 advantage. Grissom, who finished with an outstanding performance including three hits, a home run, two RBIs, and a run scored, further extended the lead in the third with a 395-foot solo home run to left center. Adell then doubled to right, bringing in Lowe, pushing the Angels' lead to 4-0.

Houston began its climb back in the fourth inning with Trammell's 412-foot homer to center, followed by Alvarez's single in the eighth that cut the lead to 4-2. Despite the early deficit, Astros starter Cristian Javier delivered a strong outing, tossing 5.0 innings with seven strikeouts and allowing no earned runs. The turning point arrived dramatically in the top of the ninth inning, when Houston exploded for four runs. Spence's fielder's choice allowed Trammell to score on a fielding error by second baseman Grissom, bringing the Astros within one. Paredes was then hit by a pitch, scoring Spence and tying the game at 4-4 after a challenged call was upheld. Wade Jr. followed with a walk, bringing home Peña and giving Houston a 5-4 lead, a call also upheld after an Angels challenge. The Astros added an insurance run when Alvarez scored on a fielding error by pitcher Bachman, completing the four-run ninth and sealing their 6-4 comeback victory.
