The Miami Marlins pulled off a thrilling upset on Friday, defeating the favored Philadelphia Phillies 8-7 in a dramatic contest. Entering the game with a 52-54 record against the Phillies' 57-49, Miami had to battle back from an early deficit. Philadelphia quickly got on the board in the first inning when Bryce Harper launched a 419-foot homer to center, scoring Kyle Schwarber. However, the Marlins responded immediately, as Lopez scored on a throwing error by shortstop Turner before Heriberto Hernandez tied the game with a 388-foot home run to left. Miami continued its offensive surge in the second inning, taking a significant lead with Nick Conine's 392-foot solo homer to right-center, followed by a double from Marsee that scored Sanoja, and a triple from Lopez that plated Marsee, putting the Marlins ahead 5-2. Philadelphia added an insurance run in the eighth, courtesy of Realmuto's sacrifice fly to center that scored Stott, extending their lead to 7-5. Yet, Miami mounted a stunning comeback in the bottom of the ninth. Heriberto Hernandez, who had a standout performance with 2 hits including a homer, 3 RBI, and 2 runs scored, delivered a clutch single to center field, bringing home Lopez and Marsee to tie the game at seven. Nick Conine then stepped up and singled to right field, scoring Hernandez for the walk-off victory, sealing the 8-7 win for the Marlins.
