Chourio added an insurance run for Milwaukee in the ninth with an RBI double that brought Frelick home, though the Cardinals would tack on another run in the bottom of the ninth on a fielding error that allowed Gorman to score.

The decisive moment arrived in the very first inning when Milwaukee’s offense exploded for four runs, immediately putting St. Louis on its heels. Vaughn’s three-run blast served as the centerpiece of that frame, providing an early and significant cushion. Brewers pitcher Brandon Sproat further solidified the advantage, delivering four stellar innings where he allowed no earned runs and struck out five, effectively stifling any potential Cardinals rally.
