Game Recap
The Chicago White Sox defeated the Minnesota Twins in a low-scoring affair, securing the victory by plating three unanswered runs across the first two innings, then holding Minnesota scoreless for the remainder of the contest.
The Twins initially grabbed a lead in the opening frame when Lee launched a solo home run to left field. Chicago quickly answered in the bottom half of the first, with Murakami hitting a solo shot to right, leveling the score. The White Sox then took their decisive lead in the second inning as Romo connected for a two-run homer to right field, also scoring Peters.
After a brief offensive burst that saw four runs scored across the first two innings, the game quickly settled into a pitching duel. Chicagoβs two-run second inning, highlighted by Romoβs decisive home run, proved to be the turning point, as it established a lead the Twins would never overcome. Anthony Kay provided a dominant performance for the White Sox, silencing Minnesotaβs bats over six innings, allowing only one earned run and striking out five to effectively shut down any Twin rally attempts after the first inning.
Ultimately, the White Soxβs timely power hitting early in the game, combined with a stellar outing from their pitching staff, was enough to secure the win. The Minnesota Twins fell to 60-66 on the season, while the Chicago White Sox improved to 66-58.
