Arizona Diamondbacks vs San Francisco Giants — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the San Francisco Giants 6-2, overcoming a brief mid-game deficit with a pivotal three-run fifth inning and a strong offensive performance from Ketel Marte.

Moreno started the scoring for Arizona with a solo home run to center in the third inning. San Francisco briefly took the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Devers doubled to right, scoring Adames and Arraez. However, the Diamondbacks immediately answered, tying the game in the top of the fifth as Marte doubled to left, bringing home Troy. Perdomo then singled to right to plate Marte, and Del Castillo followed with another single to center, scoring Perdomo, giving Arizona a 4-2 lead. In the sixth, Marte delivered again, singling to center to drive in Moreno and Fernandez, extending the Diamondbacks' advantage.

The decisive sequence unfolded in the fifth inning. After falling behind, the Diamondbacks quickly strung together hits to regain control. Marte was instrumental in this rally, hitting an RBI double to tie the game, and later adding two more RBIs in the sixth inning. Supporting the offense, Merrill Kelly provided a strong outing from the mound, pitching seven innings and allowing only two earned runs, which allowed Arizona's lead to solidify.

Ultimately, Arizona's ability to immediately counter San Francisco's brief lead with timely hitting, especially from Marte, and consistent pitching proved to be the difference. The Diamondbacks now stand at 67-60, while the Giants moved to 51-74.
