St. Louis Cardinals vs Milwaukee Brewers — Recap

📰Game Recap

Milwaukee secured a decisive victory, largely on the strength of dominant pitching and an early offensive burst that established a lead it would never relinquish. The Brewers quickly put three runs on the board in the first inning and kept the Cardinals' bats in check throughout the game, allowing only a single run to cross the plate.

The Brewers wasted no time in establishing their lead. In the bottom of the first, Contreras singled home Chourio for the game's first run. Christian Yelich then followed with a two-run homer to left-center, extending Milwaukee's advantage to three runs. The Cardinals broke their scoring drought in the top of the sixth when Herrera's groundout allowed Scott II to cross the plate. However, Milwaukee immediately answered in the bottom of the frame, with Mitchell singling to score Vaughn. Vaughn later added another run in the seventh with a ground rule double that brought Turang home.

The game's outcome was effectively sealed in the first inning, as the Brewers' three-run surge provided an early cushion that proved insurmountable for the Cardinals. Jacob Misiorowski anchored the pitching effort, delivering a stellar performance with 12 strikeouts over seven strong innings, allowing only one earned run. This dominant outing consistently shut down St. Louis's scoring opportunities, making their lone run feel like an anomaly rather than a genuine threat. Christian Yelich's two-run blast in the opening frame highlighted Milwaukee's early offensive precision, setting a tone the Cardinals couldn't match.

Ultimately, the Brewers' combination of an early lead and a stifling performance from their starting pitcher ensured their control of the game from start to finish. They improved their record to 78-48, while the Cardinals fell to 64-62.
