๐Ÿ“ฐGame Recap

The Cleveland Guardians, entering the contest with a slight edge in the standings and favored by the market, ultimately prevailed against the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night, though not without some early back-and-forth. The Twins, bringing a 53-54 record into the matchup, were the first to strike when catcher Ryan Jeffers launched a 402-foot solo home run to left field in the top of the first inning, giving Minnesota an initial 1-0 lead. Jeffers' early blast would stand as Minnesota's top offensive highlight of the night.

The Guardians, with a 54-53 record, were quick to respond and seize momentum. In the bottom of the third, Steven Kwan doubled to center, bringing home Hedges and tying the game at 1-1. The very next batter, Rocchio, singled to right field, scoring Kwan and putting Cleveland ahead 2-1, sending a clear message that the favored team was ready to contend.

Minnesota managed to draw even once more in the top of the fourth, capitalizing on Cleveland's defensive miscues. Bell scored on a fielding error by Guardians pitcher Parker Messick, which also allowed Lewis to reach first. A subsequent throwing error by second baseman Bazzana then advanced Lewis to second, knotting the score at 2-2. However, the Guardians broke the tie for good in the bottom of the sixth, using small ball to great effect. Hedges hit a sacrifice fly to left, bringing Watson home. Moments later, Halpin hit another sacrifice fly to center, scoring Bazzana after a successful challenge by the Guardians overturned the original call on the field, extending Cleveland's lead to 4-2.

Cleveland added an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh when Bazzana singled to left, driving in Manzardo and pushing the score to its final tally of 5-2. Guardians pitcher Parker Messick, despite his earlier fielding error, delivered a strong performance, ultimately pitching 5.2 innings, striking out six, and allowing only one earned run to help secure the win. In the end, the Guardians held steady to their pre-game favored status, closing out the game with a three-run cushion against their division rivals.
