New York Mets vs Miami Marlins — Recap

📰Game Recap

The Miami Marlins secured a dramatic 4-0 victory over the New York Mets, with the game remaining scoreless until the final frame. Heriberto Hernandez delivered the decisive blow, launching a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning to break the pitching deadlock.

For eight tense innings, neither offense could find a breakthrough. Both pitching staffs proved stingy, stifling scoring opportunities on a night dominated by mound performances. The contest remained locked in a 0-0 tie as it headed into the bottom half of the ninth.

The pivotal moment arrived with the bases loaded in the ninth. Facing a tie game, Hernandez stepped to the plate and crushed a 416-foot homer to center field, sending Ruiz, Hicks, and Edwards home to secure all four runs. New York’s Christian Scott had kept the Marlins off the scoreboard through 5.2 innings, striking out five, but his strong outing ultimately went unrewarded due to the late heroics.

A single, powerful swing of the bat ultimately decided this tightly contested affair, allowing the Marlins to prevail in dramatic fashion. Following the win, Miami improved its record to 65-62, while New York fell to 57-70.
