Game Recap
The Oakland Athletics rallied from an early three-run deficit, using a string of solo home runs and a pivotal three-run eighth inning to secure a 6-4 victory over the Seattle Mariners. After falling behind 3-0, Oakland steadily chipped away before taking the lead for good in the late innings.
Seattle quickly established control, with Cal Raleigh launching a solo home run to left center in the bottom of the first inning. Josh Naylor then doubled to right field, scoring Julio RodrΓguez and extending the Mariners' lead. Cade Canzone added another solo blast in the second, putting Seattle up 3-0. Oakland began its response in the fourth inning when Carlos Cortes hit a solo shot to right. Two innings later, the Athletics tied the game with back-to-back home runs from Tyler Kurtz and Shea Langeliers, both to center field.
The Athletics broke the tie in the eighth inning, scoring three crucial runs. Max Muncy drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly to right field, bringing Soderstrom home. Later in the inning, Seth Butler delivered a two-run single to right, scoring Wilson and McNeil and giving Oakland a 6-3 advantage. Cortes proved to be a catalyst for the Athletics offense throughout the contest, collecting four hits, including his solo home run, to spark the comeback effort. On the mound, J.T. Ginn navigated 5.1 innings for Oakland, striking out six while allowing the three early home runs.
Oakland's persistent offense, highlighted by timely power and a decisive late-inning surge, ultimately proved too much for the Mariners to overcome, despite a ninth-inning RBI double from Rivas that scored Young. The Athletics moved to 50-75 on the season, while the Mariners fell to 59-67.
